One has to be ready with light summer clothes if he plans to visit the Saqqara Necropolis and Pyramids of Giza. Do not forget to wear walking shoes and protection from the sun by putting on sunglasses and a hat. Do not also forget your camera or mobile phone in case you would want to take wonderful views. Photography is completely prohibited with professional cameras inside the Grand Egyptian Museum.

After the tour of the ancient temple from where Alexander the Great issued the directive to build that fantastic city, head to the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the most beautiful modern tribute to the ancient Library of Alexandria. Note: The availability of visiting it is according to the opening schedule of the library, as it is closed every Friday and Saturday and on the official holidays; also, it is closed after 2:00 pm. For those reasons, the entrance fee is excluded.

Next up is a tour of the Qaitbay Fortress in Alexandria, a 15th-century structure that stands along the Mediterranean coast and was built upon the very site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria. This provides broad views and an excellent understanding of Egyptian maritime history.
